Car Magnets Vs. Bumper Stickers During Election Season
Posted on: June 16, 2011
November is right around the corner and you know exactly who you want to support in this year's election. Most voters like to show their support in a variety of ways. They give campaign donations, put yard signs on their lawn, and put bumper stickers on their car. I like supporting my candidate as much as the next person but I personally don't like putting bumper stickers on my car. They're hard to remove and they'll stay there well after the election, even if your candidate loses. I've got a better idea for campaign season.
Car Magnets are pretty cheap and custom designable. If the candidate I supported gave out car magnets for donations I would definitely jump on the opportunity. First of all they're a lot bigger than a typical bumper sticker. They range in size but it's common to see a standard size of 12" X 24". It will be a lot easier for other drivers to see who you support with a car magnet that size. Secondly, just like bumper stickers, these magnets are available in full color.
Probably, the best reason by far to get car magnets instead of bumper stickers is that they're not going to be permanently fixed to your car. What if the candidate you voted for didn't win? What if they did win, and then turned out to be the biggest crook in politics? What if you just changed your mind about the candidate? I personally wouldn't want that bumper sticker permanently affixed to my beautiful car. Sure bumper stickers can come off, but that runs t he risk of damaging paint and leaving sticker residue on my paint job.
There are a few things to keep in mind when getting a car magnet though. Car magnets will stick to steel which means most cars will be fine. However, you'll sometimes see car doors made of bondo, fiberglass or aluminum. In that case, the magnet will not work in that area. A good way to test this is by taking any old refrigerator magnet and seeing if it sticks to your car in the area you would want a car magnet placed. Good luck everyone! Happy election season!
